Teaching Concepts for Indoor Experiences

1. Look at pictures of pets people may have. 2. Mold playdough to make your pet or your favorite kind of pet 3. Explain what a Veterinarian is and discuss why pets have to go to one, dress up as a veterinarian and pretend play 4. Talk about what our pets might eat, look at pictures or empty containers 5. Talk about what pets do ex. some can be taught to do tricks, look at pictures 6. Pet wash 7. Use bingo dabbers to dab dots on the dog 8. Pet collage 9. Play "Doggy, Doggy, Where's your bone?" 10. Scoop the pet "food" and put in bowl (use rolled up tissue paper or large pom poms for "food")

Teaching Concepts for Fingerplays

1. Call The Puppy Call the puppy! (slap hands on thighs and whistle) Give him some milk (hold out cupped hands) Brush his coat til it shines like silk (pretend to comb dog’s fur) Call the puppy! (slap hands, etc.) Give him a bone (hold hand out open) then scoop him up (scoop up dog) And take him home (hug dog) 2. Ten Little Doggies Ten little doggies went out one day, To dig in the dirt and play, play, play. Five were spotted, and five were not, and at dinnertime they ate a lot! 3. My Kitty Cat I have a kitty cat named Puff.(hold up one thumb) He’s round and soft as a ball of fluff.(make a circle with finger and thumb of other hand) Each day he laps up all his milk. And his fur is soft as silk.(stroke thumb with other hand) When he’s happy you will know, For his fluffy tail swings to and fro.(wiggle little finger) 4. Five Little Puppies Five little puppies were playing in the sun.(hold up hands,fingers extended) This one saw a rabbit, and he began to run. (bend down first finger) This one saw a butterfly,and he began to race. (bend down second finger) This one saw a cat,and he began to chase. (bend down third finger) This one tried to catch his tail,and he went round and round. (bend down fourth finger) this one was so quiet,he never made a sound. (bend down thumb) 5. Here is a Turtle Here is a turtle (make a fist) That lives inside a shell. And inside that shell Turtle hides very, very well. He pokes out his head when he wants to eat. And pulls it back inside when he wants to go to sleep.
