Teaching Concepts for Indoor Experiences

1. Look at pictures of healthy exercises and talk about the importance of exercising and how good it is for your body. 2. Look at pictures of healthy foods and talk about the importance of eating healthy. 3. Self Portrait 4. Stamp paper with people stamps. 5. Examine xrays using a magnifying glass 6. Make a person using playdough 7. Mix and match parts of the face






8. Haircut (allow children to glue crinkle paper onto a pre-drawn face or a face that they drew, then practice cutting the crinkle paper to give the person a "haircut")







9. Look in the mirror, make faces, look at parts of the face point and name them


10. Modeling with Playdough

Get kids to make fun 3-D figures of bodies. Show them how to take pieces of dough and roll them to make limbs, or into a round ball for a head.

They can also form large, flatter models of faces with the appropriate features affixed.



11. Sorting Body Parts

Children cut/tear out pictures of various body parts from magazines.

They can then glue them into pre-set categories (heads, arms, hands, legs, feet, etc.) on a large, labelled sheet of paper to form a collage.




Teaching Concepts for Outdoor Experiences

1. Roll/throw the ball and talk about what body parts you use. 2. Jumping Jacks (stretching for babies). 3. Walk, crawl, hop on foot prints cut out of construction paper. 4. Play Simon Says (assist babies) 5. Crawl under and over 6. Tissue dance (Have everyone put a tissue on their head before you play any music. Then start the music and begin dancing, but don’t let the tissue hit the ground. If the tissue starts to fall, allow your little ones to catch the tissue and put it back on your head.)

Touch your elbows, Where they bend, That’s the way this touch game ends. 4. Where is Thumbkin? 5. Point to the Right  Point to the right of me Point to the left of me Point up above me Point down below Right, left, up (increase speed in pointing) And down so slow. 6. This Little Piggy 7. Couch Potato Pokey (by Dr. Jean) You put your thumbs in, you take your thumbs out. You put your thumbs in and you wiggle them all about. You do the Couch Potato Pokey and roll your arms around. That’s (tap knees) what it’s all (clap) about. (snap) (Continue the same with) You put your noses in… You put your elbows in… You put your chins in… You put your pinkes in, you take your pinkies out. You put your pinkies in and you wiggle them all about. Give a micro-wave with your pinkies (that’s a tiny wave) and say good-bye today. Cause that’s all we’re going to play. 8. I’ve Got A Body Words I’ve Got a body, a very busy body, And it goes everywhere with me! And on my body, I’ve got some hands, And they go everywhere with me! With a clap, clap here, clap, clap there, Clap, clap , clap , clap everywhere! I’ve got a body, a very busy body, And it goes everywhere with me!  (repeat with stamping feet, nodding head, clicking tongue, ssshhing lips, blinking eyes etc.)
